Start with what your site is about let’s using antique cars for an easy example. Antique cars, who would be interested in antique cars?
Begin by jotting down people or organizations that might be interested: men, women, car clubs, auto shops, antique car clubs, car magazine, body shops. This helps get your mind going.
List building is simply brainstorming! Writing the people and organizations you can think of that will be interested in your product will guide in developing your list. List building is a simple procedure that can serve as a guide to who you should market your products or services to.
Second branch off the list you started with. In our example we can further your list by auto shops, by marketing to suppliers, manufactures, etc. Finally go over your list day after day, have other people review your list as they might come up with ideas from what you have listed. Finally, the perfected list provides you with ample people to begin marketing too.
Don’t forget though, that a list is never complete. As your business grows, you add products or services, you will want to reproduce your list to fit to the changes and advancements made.
